Keen hunter and well-known farmer Mitch Irvine has written up some of his favourite stories.
"It's funny little things that have happened," Irvine said of his collection, A Twist in the Tail. "It's there for the laughs."
A straight talker with a dry sense of humour, Irvine said the tales had a "little bit of a twist in them" and were based on fact.
"I might have stretched the truth occasionally," he said. "You don't want the truth to get in the way of a good story."
The tales mostly recounted hunting adventures in the Wairoa Valley.
